Chocolate Ripple Bars

butter 1 c. oatmeal
2 c.
brown sugar 1 (12 oz) pkg. chocolate chips
2
eggs 1 can Eagle Brand condensed
milk
2 tsp.
vanilla 2 T. butter
2 1/2
c flour 1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp.
salt 2 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp.
soda 1 c. nuts (Optional)
Cream
butter and sugar; add eggs and vanilla and mix well. Add sifted
flour, salt and soda. Blend in dry oatmeal and spread 2/3 of
mixture in buttered 11x17 pan. To make filling: melt chocolate
chips, milk, butter, salt and vanilla over low heat. Spread over
dough mixture. Sprinkle nuts on chocolate layer and spread the
remaining dough on top. Bake 350 degrees for 20 minutes, don't over
bake.
